Description
Carl Orff (1895-1982) is one of the best-known composers of the last century. On Christmas Eve 1948, the Christmas Story with Carl Orff's lyrics and music by Gunild Keetman was performed for the first time and broadcast in Bayrischer Rundfunk (Bavarian Radio), conducted by Orff himself.
The Christmas Story has been performed in St. John's Church in Rostock in Low German translation since 1969. The 100th performance was celebrated in 2001; many of the parents of today's choir members sang in this piece themselves as children. With this recording from 2003, the Low German version of Orff's Christmas Story becomes available to audiences outside Rostock.
