Our advice
The philosophy of the label KlangRäume can be described using three terms: artistic competence, musical authenticity
and audiophile realisation.
The musical language of this label has been described by music journalist Wolf Kampmann as, "... it is no longer just jazz that typifies the character of KlangRäume. Wolfgang Schmiedt and his colleages tread along the narrow and rocky path away from the European and modern traditions to a musical aesthetic that knows neither stylistic or national boundaries..."
Artistic competence is the foundation and reason for the work we do with all of the musicians we are involved with. Their musical authenticity can be experienced in unique, creative sounds that have been developed trough both the conscience inclusion of individual musical roots as well as reflection of current musical developments.
Thus, a new musical context is created that begins with jazz but includes connections to classic, contemporary and world music.
We believe in conceptual work both with our artists and in the presentation of our programs. Special classics, music for imaginary films are examples of series that will be continued throughout time in future productions.
When we say we want to give unique creative sounds space, we don´t only mean it in theory, we also mean it literally. It is our goal to let each production be created in a space ideally suited to it´s sound. This is often churches or cathedrals, but can also be recording studios with favorable sound characteristics.
The audiophile realisation offers the listener the highest possible unadulterated original product; even the exacting demands of reception with high-end systems will be satisfied through our special recording technique (Dummy Head + binaural computer room-simulation from AachenHEAD).
